CMPA Membership Guidelines
How To Join

As stated in the CMPA bylaws:
A business firm engaged in the publishing of music shall qualify for membership in this association if it: (1) owns any significant gospel catalog or hymn catalog, or (2) through its publishing enterprise supplies music used in the service of churches.

Further Guidelines:

For purposes of determining membership qualification, “publishing enterprise” requires the ownership and exploitation of bona fide music copyrights by the applicant as a significant part of its core business.

Membership Levels

1. Full Member. A Full Member shall be defined as one business firm with one vote, regardless of the number of companies associated with said business firm. In the event one business firm has a controlling interest in another business firm, only one of those entities shall become a Full Member with a right to vote. Full Members must be recommended to the Executive Committee by the Membership Committee, voted upon by the Executive Committee to be placed on the ballot for voting by the entire membership and are elected to Full Membership upon a majority vote by active CMPA members (secret ballot) or a majority of voting members constituting a quorum if voted on at the convention. Dues are paid annually.

2. Associate Member. Associate Members have all rights and privileges as a Full Member but with no voting rights. Dues are paid annually. There are two paths to becoming an Associate Member of CMPA.

1) Business firms with a principal office outside the USA can choose to apply as Associate Members (or if they qualify, may apply for Full Membership). In this case, Associate Member must be recommended to the Executive Committee by the Membership Committee, voted upon by the Executive Committee to be placed on the ballot for voting by the entire membership and are elected to Associate Membership upon a majority vote by active CMPA members (secret ballot) or a majority of voting members constituting a quorum if voted on at the convention.

2) Associate Membership status may be assigned to a member company when it becomes owned or controlled by a Full Member company. Associate Membership status is effective immediately at the discretion of the Full Member owner company.

Any firms interested in becoming a member may contact CMPA’s Membership Chair through: cmpa@comcast.net.
